Meter utility consumption for postpaid billing
Electricity, gas and water customers consume the service during the billing period and pay afterwards. Entitler records uncapped consumption in kWh, megajoules or kilolitres, while your utility billing system calculates and issues the bill from that usage.

Meter the service now, bill the consumption afterwards
Harbour household’s utility services are postpaid. Record electricity, gas or water consumption as it arrives from the meter-data system. The period’s total goes to billing afterwards, without a prepaid balance or an included consumption limit.
Step 1 of 4: Open the postpaid account
The account shows consumption recorded so far, rather than a balance the household must top up.
Development is a test environment: test money and sample customers only.

Observed consumption becomes the usage on the bill
Each service has an uncapped usage meter. At the end of the billing period, your utility systems calculate the charge from the recorded quantity and the applicable tariff.
| Feature | Type | Plan value |
|---|---|---|
| Electricity consumption | Metered, observed | kWh consumed, billed after the period |
| Gas consumption | Metered, observed | MJ consumed, billed after the period |
| Water consumption | Metered, observed | kL consumed, billed after the period |
More situations your team can handle
Usage arrives in several reports
Your meter-data system sends measured consumption throughout the billing period. Record the consumption as observed usage. Your billing system uses the period’s accumulated quantity to prepare the invoice.
An account combines electricity and gas
The same household has several services with different units and tariffs. Keep electricity, gas and water in their own product and feature meters. Your billing system combines the relevant charges on the account’s bill.
The tariff has several rates
The bill includes time-of-use rates, usage blocks or fixed supply charges. Keep detailed meter readings and tariff calculations in your utility systems. Use Entitler for the service plan, entitlements and reported consumption.
A service package changes
An offer adds an energy report or another customer service benefit. Release a new plan version for those benefits and choose when existing customers move, while consumption reporting continues.
